Housing needs survey
needs survey is now being conducted in one of the northern parishes
of the borough with the help of Aislably Parish Council.
Questionnaires are being delivered to all households in Aislaby
parish to see if there is a need for affordable homes, either to
rent or to buy, for local people.
When housing needs surveys are undertaken, it is vital that all
households (regardless of the age of occupants) respond by
completing the housing needs questionnaires. Without this evidence
of what local people want, affordable housing schemes, which could
help keep open community services such as village schools, pubs and
shops, cannot be built. Households that are not within the
geographical area but still have a strong local connection to the
parish (for example those who were born in the area or who have
parents living there) can also be included in the survey if they
request a questionnaire.
Other parishes in the North York Moors National Park have
undertaken similar surveys, which have shown a demand for
affordable homes for local people. This has resulted in affordable
housing schemes being built in villages such as Danby, Castleton,
Hinderwell and Glaisdale. These homes are now all occupied with
people that have local connections to the area.
If anyone with a local connection to the Aislaby parish is in
housing need and would like to complete a questionnaire, they can
